Congratulations to Ben (Thommo) Thompson who will play his 200th game for the Marlins this Saturday at home against Maitland.
Ben started with the Marlins in the under 12’s and since then has only missed one season, making him one of the longest serving Marlins players. He played his first Senior’s game for the Marlins on his 16th Birthday, that day playing for both the Reserves and Under 18’s as well, not the only time that season he would play for all three teams on the one day! Ben has been there for all the highs and lows of the club over the past 2 decades, knowing both the heartbreak of winning only one game in three seasons (2006-2008) and the elation of winning the 2013 Grand Final. Ben is a member of the Marlin’s leadership group in 2018 and his passion for the club sets a great example for other players. We wish him the best of luck for Saturday and the rest of the season!
Members of the community are encouraged to come down and support Ben and the rest of the players as all three teams face off against Maitland. Reserves kick off at 10am, Women’s at 12pm and Senior’s at 2pm, Go Marlins!
